Hi there, I’m Reets, the pattern designer behind Reets Rags to Stitches, who has been popping up at Quilt Market, retail shows, in publications, and online for quite some time now. In love with color, in love with warmth and whimsy, I have felt most fortunate to be able to mold these passions together, creating a wide variety of patterns for quilters, stitchers, and crafters, and, most recently, have found a new love: designing fabric!  And what a gift it was when it was introduced to the Henry Glass family. My dear aunt and mother taught me to sew clothing at a very young age, and like so many of you, the cutting table was often covered with patterns and fabric for school clothes. During college days, I designed and sewed part-time for a San Francisco leather company. From there, I migrated north to live among the breathtaking redwood giants (still there, still taking my breath away). Soon to follow came marriage and children, creating a temporary departure from my stitching career. Doll crafting reeled me back in, and that quickly led to the world of fabrics, quilts, and so much more. I often think about just how fortunate all of us stitchers are to be part of this expansive world of cloth. So much creativity surrounds us, friendships begin and flourish, endless opportunities to make someone’s day better, and our own as well. The commitment and generosity of stitchers and how much they have given to our world with their quilts and other creations. It continuously amazes me. Some of you who are familiar with me know that often I am inclined to include whimsical characters in my designs and am also committed to their expressions that “invite you in.” My most cherished compliment over the years would have to be “your designs make me smile.” And it is my greatest hope that my fabric designs will do the same.  May they inspire you to create.
