Delphine Cubitt is an English artist and surface pattern designer working from her garden studio in the heart of the Peak District. Surrounded by rolling hills, wildlife, and ever‑changing skies, Delphine draws daily inspiration from the landscape she calls home.
She studied Surface Pattern Design at Art College before beginning her career at a major UK greeting card company. After eight years in a fast‑paced commercial studio, she followed her creative instincts and founded her own design business—a leap that has led to more than twenty‑five years of successful freelance work.
Delphine's artwork has been licensed across the world, appearing on products for companies such as Tri‑Coastal, Paramount, Marian Heath, Ravensburger and many others. Her joyful, detailed illustrations have adorned everything from garden flags to Christmas décor, children's products, stationery, and home accessories.
Although she has designed for many product categories, Delphine feels most at home when creating fabric collections. Designing for patchwork and quilting allows her to combine storytelling, colour, and pattern in a way that feels true to her artistic roots. Her work for Henry Glass reflects her love of characterful motifs, gentle humor, and the comforting nostalgia of childhood books and handmade treasures.
When she isn't painting, Delphine can often be found rambling through the Peak District hills or wild swimming in local rivers and lakes. She also enjoys baking sourdough and experimenting with ferments—and most of all, cherishes time spent with her three sons, who now live away but return home as often as they can.
Delphine's designs celebrate warmth, whimsy, and the simple pleasures of everyday life—qualities she hopes quilters will feel stitched into every piece of fabric she creates.
