Debbie is a pattern designer, as well as a shop owner, and hales from the Pacific Northwest calling Star, Idaho her home. Debbie Busby found inspiration for this collection from the simplicity of her childhood. Red wagons and seasonal motifs fill this collection in a primitive palette of color. Her red wagon was the one thing that as her family took every summer on their seasonal trip. This collection is filled with joyfully simple images of wagons brimming with her memories and ready for any season or occasion. This collection includes an array of engineered designs created for a variety of usage.
Debbie grew up in the Pacific Northwest with her three sisters, moving every summer between Oregon and Washington for their father’s job. She was introduced to sewing as a young girl by her mother and grandmothers. These influential women in her life sewed clothing, doll clothes and quilts. She learned all the sewing basics in home economics and continued her love for sewing into sewing for her children, family and craft fairs.
After taking a wool class and making models for local quilt shops to display, she was encouraged by her mother to start her own business. Debbie has been designing patterns since 2002 for her business Wooden Spool Designs. Wool applique is her specialty and she has over 200 patterns that she sells wholesale and retail. She has been featured in various magazines including Simply Vintage, Quilt Mania, Primitive Quilts and American Patchwork & Quilting, Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications. She has two published books with Martingale/That Patchwork Place.
Debbie travels and teaches nationally and loves to teach women the basics of wool applique in quilt shops across the states. She has traveled as far away as Australia to teach and loves how a simple needle and thread can bring so many together.
